The way you light a room makes the difference in its functionality, regardless of its size. Learn how to illuminate your favorite table and dark spots in your living room.

Select Lighting Style

Not sure if what you want is a rustic style or perhaps something more industrial? Start with your favorite item in the room and look for a light that will highlight it. If you have a more modern sofa, look for a cleaner luminaire to grow your space.

You can also get ideas from the existing room information. If the door knobs and cupboards are all made of nickel coating, choose lights to complement them.

And do not be afraid to add a little shine. Many lamps are decorated with beads, crystals or decorative colored glass. You can even combine materials to create a more personal style.

Categories-Lighting Levels

There are three categories of lighting: space, work, emphasis. The size and type of room will determine what categories you will need but generally need at least two, in order to illuminate a room properly. Sometimes, simply adding a light class can dramatically increase the light quality of your home.

Room lighting or general lighting is needed in every room. It offers a comfortable, in general, light. Sources of room lighting are usually ceiling lights, and as a general rule, it is best to start with those of room lighting.

Sources of LED lighting to keep in mind: ceiling fans, chandeliers, ceiling lights, hanging lights, recessed spotlights, floor lamps, outdoor spotlights, and sconces.

Working lights or local lighting are just what they call their name - the lighting that gives you the ability to do a job. Provides the intense, direct light needed for a detailed job - reading, cooking, preparing, applying makeup - in places like kitchen, office, and bathroom.

Sources of working light to keep in mind: office lamps, many in a row or a pendant luminaire, outdoor spots and lighting under cabinets, Led strips.

Emphasis lighting gives you the opportunity to highlight interesting features of your home decoration, such as a table or fireplace. It also serves as a secondary lighting source. The illumination of the room mainly offers illumination from above, while accent lighting helps to spread the light where there is no room lighting.
